Optimist Club cites athletes for awards

Kayla Roemmich, a junior from Bottineau, N.D., placed 22nd in the discus in her first trip to the NAIA national championships in Marion. Ind. She had a throw of 130 feet, 4 inches.
Trent Roemmich, a sophomore from Linton, ran a career-best time of 14.86 seconds in the quarterfinals of the 100-meter hurdles at the national meet. In the same day, he ran a 54.36 in the 400 hurdles to advance to the semifinals in the event.
Allmer, a junior on the JHS track and field team, won her second straight state championship in the 1,600-meter run at the state track and field meet in Bismarck on Saturday. Allmer won in a time of 5:05.83. She later added a third-place finish in the 800 in 2:21.07.
Willer, a senior on the JHS track and field team, placed third in the discus at the state meet with a PR of 154-11.
