A Jamestown man was arrested early Sunday morning for DUI after driving a vehicle into Pipestem Creek, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. along Second Street and 17th Avenue Southwest.

Christopher Freeh, 27, 1505 14th St. SW, was driving a 1997 Ford westbound on Second Street when he said an animal went in front of his vehicle as he was turning on to 17th Avenue.

He lost control of the Ford as it skidded across the cement barrier on the east side of the bridge, then went off the bridge, rolled on the bank and came to rest in Pipestem Creek.

Freeh, who was wearing his seat belt, was injured. He was taken by ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

There was $5,500 in damage to the Ford.
