DAV convention held in Grand Forks
The Disabled American Veterans 92nd Department Convention was held at the Guesthouse Inn, Grand Forks, in early May. Many issues affecting veterans and their families were discussed and recommendations were made by the delegates.

The delegates elected the following officers to lead the DAV Department of North Dakota for FY 2012-2013: commander, Richard Krajewski, Chapter 2, Grand Forks; senior vice commander, Thomas Saddler Jr., Chapter 2, Grand Forks; first junior commander, Rod Olin, Chapter 31, Jamestown; second junior vice commander, Chris Wingire, Chapter 31, Jamestown; third junior vice commander, Dave Vareberg, Chapter 24, Valley City; chaplain, Joe Hall, Chapter 3, Bismarck/Mandan; adjutant/treasurer, Warren Tobin, Chapter 31, Jamestown; judge advocate/inspector, Mike Vandrovec, Chapter 1, Fargo.
Krajewski is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War and has held the department’s elected line positions as department chaplain and all of the vice commander posts. He has been active in his chapter and assisted with department programs for several years.
Krajewski made the following commander appointments: service officer, Chanelle Lende, Chapter 1, Fargo; legislative chair, Tobin; and chief of staff, Roy Fillion, Chapter 2, Grand Forks.
Awards were presented at the annual banquet to the following:
* Outstanding North Dakota Disabled American Veteran of the Year for 2011-2012: Joe Hall, Bismarck.
* 2012 Outstanding Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Member: Dr. Bradley Kasson, DDS; Fargo.
* 2012 Outstanding Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Benefits Administration, Linda Horvath, Fargo.
* 2012 Outstanding Employee of the North Dakota Veterans Home, Kristin Lunneborg, Lisbon.
* 2012 Outstanding Employment Representative, Job Service North Dakota: Susan Ogurek, Minot
Rep. Rick Berg, R-N.D., addressed the members of the Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary concerning the Veterans Affairs budget, programs and services and veterans-related bills before Congress.
Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley addressed the members of the Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary concerning state veterans programs.
