Campbell announces Century commitment

Jamestown College men’s wrestling coach C.J. Campbell announced on Wednesday the signing of Bismarck Century graduate Austin Were and Dillon Kifer of Little Falls, Minn., to compete for the Jimmies starting in the fall.

Jamestown College men’s wrestling coach C.J. Campbell announced on Wednesday the signing of Bismarck Century graduate Austin Were and Dillon Kifer of Little Falls, Minn., to compete for the Jimmies starting in the fall.

Werre is a two-time state qualifier who placed fourth at 220 pounds in 2012.

“It is great to get quality wrestlers from here in North Dakota,” Campbell said. “We have had a lot of success with local wrestlers. Our last two All-Americans, Sean Blumhardt and Pat Nord, are local wrestlers from North Dakota and neither of them were state champions. With the right dedication and effort, I hope to see Austin join them as an All-American. Austin is a tough wrestler who has proven himself on the mat in high school and I believe he is prepared to take on the challenge of competing at the next level.”

Kifer, a two-time placer, took fifth this year after a sixth-place finish his junior season. He was named Morrison County’s 2012 wrestler of the year and holds school records in wins (197) and pins (117).

“Bringing in a talented wrestler from our neighboring state of Minnesota helps to showcase the talent we have in the Midwest,” Campbell said. “Minnesota is a tough wrestling state and Dillon has been able to excel there.”
