The State Historical Society of North Dakota is hosting a series of public presentations in communities throughout North Dakota to preview concept designs for new exhibits at the North Dakota Heritage Center. One of these public presentations will be held at 10 a.m. June 27 at Jamestown College, Nafus Student Center.

At these presentations, the State Historical Society will preview concept designs for three new exhibit galleries in the North Dakota Heritage Center. These concept designs have been produced by Great Plains Exhibit Development, an exhibit contractor hired by the State Historical Society to assist with development of the new exhibits. The working titles for these three galleries are the Geologic Time Gallery, the Early Peoples Gallery, and the Inspiration Gallery.

The Geologic Time Gallery is being designed for a broad audience interested in dinosaurs and fossils, the science behind paleontology, geology and the development of the North Dakota landscape.

The Early Peoples Gallery is being planned as a comprehensive experience for visitors, highlighting the beauty and breadth of the State Historical Society of North Dakota’s Native American collections. The gallery will tell a story that begins more than 12,000 years ago and continues to the present day.

The Inspiration Gallery will examine North Dakota’s history from its territorial days up to present day by exploring six major themes. A key thread that will run through this gallery is that North Dakotans are innovative and resourceful people.
