The Southeast Jamestown Regional DUI Task Force is conducting heightened DUI enforcement from June 8-23. The goal of the Regional DUI Task Force is to deter the public from driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs to keep North Dakota roads safe for all users.
In 2011, there were 148 fatalities on North Dakota roads and 66 (45 percent) of them were alcohol related.
“With over 6,000 DUI arrests made in the state of North Dakota in 2011, there’s no doubt that North Dakota has a serious problem with people choosing to drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” said Lt. Aaron Hummel, North Dakota Highway Patrol. “We have a lot more work to do to tackle this problem.”
The Southeast Jamestown Regional DUI Task Force includes the following agencies: NDHP, Eddy, Foster, Griggs, Stutsman, Barnes, Logan, McIntosh and LaMoure Sheriff’s departments, and Carrington, Jamestown, Valley City, LaMoure, Kulm and Oakes Police departments.
