Jamestown earns split

Kasey Gengler and Danny Fischer combined on a four-hit shutout as Jamestown Post 14 got its first win of the summer Legion season Friday night.

Dickinson earned the split, winning the second game 5-1.

Post 14 got five stellar innings out of Gengler as Post 14 took the opening game 2-0.

Fischer worked the final two innings to earn the save.

Jamestown (1-3) got single runs in the top of the second and third innings to account for the game’s only runs.

Ben Walz and Jake Stilwell each had one hit and one run scored for Post 14. Riley Schafer, Brady Anderson and Tyler Ukestad each added hits.

The Roughriders bounced back to gain the split with a 5-1 win in the nightcap.

Dickinson started fast, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. They tacked on two more in the bottom of the third.

Aaron Berg went the distance on the mound for Dickinson, limiting Post 14 to one run on only three hits. Fischer, Landon Weiser and Riley Schafer had the hits for Jamestown.

Stilwell was saddled with the loss on the mound.

Post 14 is back on the road Monday in Grand Forks.
