Tom Boerger gave the final update on the State All Star Soccer Tournament that was held at the Rotary Soccer Field in Jamestown on June 6. He shared how some of the athletes from last year really enjoyed the tournament and especially being able to play with some of their former rivals.
Jason Bitz introduced Joyce Heinrich, a member of the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Commission, who spoke on the new Jamestown dog park. She gave a brief history of the park and how it came into being. The new park is located at 103 13th St. SW in Jamestown, near Mayer Truck Line. Pepper’s Dog Park is a 2-acre park, which is divided into two areas, one for small dogs and one area for large dogs. Heinrich reminded members there are rules for the park and they are written on a sign so people will know what is expected. The purpose for the park is to have a safe environment for dogs to exercise and socialize with other dogs. Dog parks can bring people together and create a great sense of community, Heinrich said.
Today’s program is on the American Red Cross. The invocation will be by Teresa Brecto and Riffe will be the song leader and sergeant-at-arms.
