What a wonderful time of the year! The weather has been great! Congratulations to our 4-H graduates.

I know this is a busy time for our 4-H members as they are getting projects ready for the 2012 Stutsman County Fair. With more than 200 project areas in 4-H, they have many to choose from. I encourage everyone to make a trip up to the fair to check out the 4-H exhibits. Our livestock barn will be exciting with lots of sheep, swine, goats, dairy and beef animals. Visit with the 4-H members about what they have learned this year while preparing for the fair.

We have several members trying out our latest project, which is a film festival. They are creating a film production to exhibit at the North Dakota State Fair and are working diligently on their project. They hope to have it playing while at the county fair in July also. Maybe we have future major film directors in our midst.

4-H is all about youth development and an upcoming event in Jamestown will be the North Dakota Young Entrepreneurs Camp. This weeklong summer camp is for 9- to 13-year-olds to organize themselves into a self-governing community where they become the innovative entrepreneurs, smart consumers and active citizens. They turn their own good ideas into business opportunities and then market their goods or services to the other kids and adults in the camp. As their businesses develop and their town grows, dilemmas naturally arise, so they create their own town council to resolve community issues. You can register for the camp at the following website or contact the Stutsman County Extension Office: http://www. ndyoungentrepreneurs.org/

To find out more about 4-H and how you can become involved contact the Stutsman County Extension office at 701-252-9030 or visit us at 116 1/2 East First St., Jamestown.
