Letter to the editor: Government should not force us to support other lifestyles

I was very impressed and pleased with the recent letter by Cindy Hinz; I don’t know her, but I agree totally regarding religious freedom. Our nation was founded by people who were willing to risk their lives to escape forced religious beliefs which were contrary to the Bible.

I was very impressed and pleased with the recent letter by Cindy Hinz; I don’t know her, but I agree totally regarding religious freedom. Our nation was founded by people who were willing to risk their lives to escape forced religious beliefs which were contrary to the Bible. They suffered considerably just so they could have the freedom to worship as they felt they should according to God’s word in the Bible. Now, when people want to tear that freedom away from us, those who fear our religious freedom are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to convince voters that securing our religious freedom is a fearful and dangerous thing. The freedoms we once had (to have memorial crosses, to celebrate Christian holidays as freely as the Muslims and other religions celebrate their holidays, and so on) are fast being taken away and we very definitely need to vote for protecting our religious rights.

Recently a statement was made regarding religious freedom in the James River Correctional Center in which the warden said, “Freedom of religion is one of the most protected rights.” Isn’t it a pitiful shame that we on the “outside” don’t have the same rights?

Our president would force us to pay to support other people’s lifestyles that are contrary to our beliefs based on the Bible. Does being a Christian and living according to our Lord’s teaching in the Bible mean anything to anyone anymore? I certainly hope so.
