DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A Montana man was arrested in western North Dakota after the car he was driving nearly struck a trooper’s vehicle and then collided head-on with a Hummer.
Clifford McCaulou, of Billings, Mont., is charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and driving left of center while not passing.
Authorities said the 25-year-old McCaulou was travelling north on state Highway 22 in a 1997 Pontiac when he crossed the center line and nearly struck a Dunn County sheriff deputy’s vehicle.
McCaulou continued to cross into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2007 Hummer driven by 38-year-old Loren Benedict of Bismarck.
The accident happened two miles south of Manning about 10:30 p.m. Friday.
