Crabtree: Pick a nonpartisan for PSC

BISMARCK (AP) — Democratic Public Service Commission candidate Brad Crabtree is hoping a nonpartisan professional will be chosen to serve out the term of former Commissioner Tony Clark.

Clark resigned last week. His term has about six months to go. Crabtree and Republican state Sen. Randy Christmann of Hazen are running for the seat.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple has the option of picking Christmann to finish Clark’s term. Christmann said he and the governor will talk about the situation later this week.

Crabtree said the commission has become too political, and he said Dalrymple would “send a good signal” by choosing a regulatory professional for the open commission spot.

The governor said he will appoint someone to the opening, instead of leaving it vacant until the November election.
