Officials: ND energy policy is model for country

Officials say North Dakota's robust and diverse energy sector can provide a template for the country.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Officials say North Dakota's robust and diverse energy sector can provide a template for the country.

Sen. John Hoeven and Gov. Jack Dalrymple along with industry and energy officials gathered Monday in Bismarck for a conference highlighting North Dakota's renewable energy industry.

Officials say North Dakota's energy policy has advanced technology, provided certainty for developers, spurred investment, created jobs and helped reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil.

Officials say while North Dakota oil industry is booming, the state has made huge strides in developing renewable energy such as wind, ethanol and biofuels.
