UND hockey recruits selected in NHL draft
University of North Dakota incoming freshman Jordan Schmaltz was selected in the first round of the National Hockey League draft by the St. Louis Blues.
GRAND FORKS (AP) — University of North Dakota incoming freshman Jordan Schmaltz was selected in the first round of the National Hockey League draft by the St. Louis Blues.
Schmaltz, who will play for UND next season, was the 25th player taken overall. He is the 15th player in UND history to be selected in the first round.
UND recruit and former Grand Forks Central High School standout Paul LaDue was drafted in the sixth round by the Los Angeles Kings.
