Dakota State Eagles officers elected

Ken “Andy” Anderson, Vermillion, S.D., was installed as president of the Dakota State Aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagles, for 2012-2013 at the conclusion of the Dakota State Eagles Convention held June 7-9 in Dickinson.

Kim Kremer of Dickinson was installed as president, Dakota State Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles, for the same ensuing fraternal year 2012-2013.

Other Aerie officers elected were: Chuck Blumhardt, Aberdeen, S.D., vice president; Tom Thrift, Jamestown, chaplain; Ronald Keller, Harvey, N.D., treasurer; Cliff Deverell, Vermillion, secretary; Richard Haas, Valley City, N.D., conductor; Paul Niemi, Rugby, N.D., inside guard; Paul Hagenbuch, Vermillion, outside guard; and trustees Leon Wedar, Minot, Dennis Throndset, Langdon, N.D., and Larry Gilge, Jamestown.

The outgoing state president is Kash Kramer, Dickinson, who now becomes junior past state president.

Other Auxiliary officers elected were: Jeralyn Behm, Valley City, vice president; Deborah Brown, Bismarck, chaplain; Bev Alex, Minot, treasurer; Betty Jo Hoeppner, Jamestown, secretary; Gerri Dooley, Vermillion, conductor; Robin Jung-Schatz, Dickinson, inside guard; Cindy Meyer, Rugby, outside guard; and trustees Angel Opdahl, Harvey, Janine Anderson, New Rockford, N.D., and Lynn Rude, Fargo.

The outgoing Auxiliary state president is Mona Peters, Rapid City, S.D., who now become junior past madam state president.

Awards for outstanding local Aerie presidents were presented to Jerry Brown, Bismarck, and Philip Meyer, Rugby; outstanding local Aerie secretaries’ awards were presented to Niemi and Roger Loerch, Harvey.

At the banquet on June 8, the following grants, awards and presentations were presented:

*$5,000 Aerie grant to Home on the Range for Boys & Girls, Sentenial Butte, N.D., from Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund, and $1,200 Auxiliary grant to Black Hills Children’s Home Society from Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund.

*Lorraine Brisvold, Fargo, was inducted into the Dakota State Auxiliary Hall of Fame. Ralph Hilgemann, Jamestown, was inducted into the Dakota State Aerie Hall of Fame. A $500 Dakota State Eagles Scholarship was presented to David Makastic, Rugby, who will be attending the University of North Dakota.

Other awards presented by the Auxiliary during the business sessions were: Mrs. Eagle of the Year, Janet Richardson, Minot, and State Mother of the Year Ramona Larson, Hettinger, N.D.

Grand Aerie/Grand Auxiliary representatives in attendance were: Chuck Lang, grand trustee, Harvey; Creighton Thurman, Vermillion, grand Aerie legal adviser; D.R. Jim West, grand treasurer, Hopkinsville, Ky; Louie Rubbelke, north central regional president, Minot; Penny Skinner, grand madam trustee, Clarksburg, W. Va.; Karen Potratz, north central regional president, Elk River, Minn., Joanne Rott, Jamestown, past grand madam president; and Lois Nelson, Fargo, past grand madam president.
