Minimal damage in southwest Jamestown garage fire

There were no injuries and minimal damage totaling up to $50 was reported following a fire at a garage in southwest Jamestown on Friday, according to Jim Reuther, chief of the Jamestown Fire Department.

There were no injuries and minimal damage totaling up to $50 was reported following a fire at a garage in southwest Jamestown on Friday, according to Jim Reuther, chief of the Jamestown Fire Department.

A fire call was placed to the Law Enforcement Center at 12:36 p.m., to which 23 JFD firefighters and four trucks responded to 1102 17th St. SW.

Reuther said discarded smoking materials caused the fire to the garage and he said the JFD cleared the scene by 12:55 p.m.

Reuther said there is no further investigation into the incident.
