Walk-in clinic in Oil Patch city closes

Mercy Medical Center in the booming North Dakota Oil Patch city of Williston has closed its walk-in clinic, in part because of a lack of staffing.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — Mercy Medical Center in the booming North Dakota Oil Patch city of Williston has closed its walk-in clinic, in part because of a lack of staffing.

Vice president Trina Bressler told The Forum that the Express Care Clinic also closed because it wasn’t able to accommodate after-hours patients due to the heavy volume of afternoon patients filling up all the evening appointment slots.

About 90 patients a week were using the clinic. Bressler said the medical center is developing a new model for its emergency department to help serve those patients.
