Man signs plea deal on assault charges

A man accused of assaulting several women during a fight on the Three Affiliated Tribes Indian Reservation said he will plead guilty in federal court.

MINOT (AP) — A man accused of assaulting several women during a fight on the Three Affiliated Tribes Indian Reservation said he will plead guilty in federal court.

Eric Yellow Bird is charged with four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of burglary. A deal with prosecutors calls for Yellow Bird to plead guilty to three of the charges.

A police report said the August 2011 melee left five women injured. Two victims suffered broken noses and another victim sustained a broken jaw.

Yellow Bird faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in jail.
