Buchanan, N.D., resident Tom Brandau has seen the writing on the wall for some time.
Now he’s closing his downtown Jamestown store.
“Sustaining any business is tough. It’s something that’s been coming on for quite a while now,” said Brandau, who is closing down Tom’s Antiques after 2 1/2 years in business.
Due to what he called a “lack of business,” Brandau has elected to close the store for good and is not making any plans to relocate it.
While Brandau has not set a specific closing date, he anticipates shutting down the store by mid-July.
“I’m just going to sell down for now and see how it goes,” he said.
The business is now in the midst of a storewide sale, marking everything down 50 percent.
“Things have been moving pretty fast, so that might move up the closing date, but I’m just not sure,” he said.
As for what he’ll turn to next, Brandau said he’s not really sure.
“I haven’t really figured that out yet, but I just want to say how much I’ll miss my customers,” he said.
Brandau said he appreciates all of his customer patronage over the years and is grateful for their support.
Tom’s Antiques is located on First Avenue South next to Officeland.
Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
