Late homer lifts Elks over Merchants

Boya Quichocho belted a go-ahead three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning as the Jamestown Elks topped the Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants 5-4 Sunday at Jack Brown Stadium.

Boya Quichocho belted a go-ahead three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning as the Jamestown Elks topped the Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants 5-4 Sunday at Jack Brown Stadium.

The Elks trailed 2-1 entering the top of the ninth inning, but scored four times in their final at bat.

Kyle Mallory, who had three hits for the Elks, singled in the game-tying run. Quichocho followed with the decisive blast with two outs.

Erik Peterson added two hits, one a double, as the Elks improved to 6-4 on the season. It was their second straight win over the Merchants this season.

Dan Brown, the third of three pitchers, earned the win.
