Jamestown apartment damaged by fire
An accidental kitchen fire caused an estimated $6,000 to $7,000 in damage to a northeast Jamestown apartment Tuesday, according to Jim Reuther, Jamestown fire chief. No one was injured in the incident.

Units of the Jamestown Fire Department responded to the call at 10:14 a.m. to 615 16th Ave. N.E. A total of 29 firefighters and six units were involved in extinguishing the fire and clearing smoke from the building. Officials cleared the scene at 11:20.
Reuther said the cause of the fire was accidental.
Buffalo Valley Chapter of American Red Cross provided assistance to the tenants of the fire damaged apartment. Other units in the building did receive some smoke but no other tenants were displaced by the fire.
