North Dakota murder suspect to argue mental defect
Attorneys for a Fargo man accused of killing his wife plan to argue that he lacked criminal responsibility.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Attorneys for a Fargo man accused of killing his wife plan to argue that he lacked criminal responsibility.
Attorneys for 50-year-old Henry Deniger Sr. this week filed notice in state district court that they will use a trial defense of mental disease or defect. The judge in the case earlier ordered Deniger to undergo a mental health evaluation, and his attorneys say they will introduce evidence obtained from a North Dakota State Hospital psychologist.
Deniger is charged with murder in the March stabbing death of his 52-year-old wife, Kathye. She was found dead in the couple's apartment and he was arrested the following day in St. Cloud, Minn.
