Elks get win in tourney opener

The Jamestown Merchants amateur baseball tournament continues today at Jack Brown Stadium.

The Jamestown Merchants amateur baseball tournament continues today at Jack Brown Stadium.

In the opening game of the tournament Friday night, the Jamestown Elks defeated the Jamestown Tarno Townies 17-0 in five innings.

Six games are on tap for today, beginning at 10 a.m. with the Elks taking on Detroit Lakes (Minn.). The Townies face DL in Game 2, while the Merchants play the third and fourth games of the day.

Other teams playing in the tournament include the Mayville Redcaps and Groton, S.D.

The tournament concludes on Sunday with the fifth-, third- and championship games, beginning at 10 a.m.
