University of North Dakota students Megan Rangeloff and Dominique Hawkins won first place in this year’s “Think Outside the Desk” video competition sponsored by JLG Architects, earning a cash prize of $2,500.

Rangeloff, a native of Tappen, N.D., and Hawkins, Plymouth, Minn., both graphic design and technology majors, submitted their video as part of Elizabeth Becker’s “tech” class, multimedia and production. Their video “Technology Consumes Us” competed against students across the state and is now located on JLG Architects YouTube channel.

The contest invited any full time college student in North Dakota to submit a two-three minute serious or humorous video explaining how their campus environment could promote face-to-face communication in today’s digital age.

The winners were selected by a panel of judges made up of representatives from colleges and universities around the state.
