Dickey County Fair July 13-15

The Dickey County Fair is July 13-15 in Ellendale. Events include a “Hands-on OHV Safety Certification Course.” This course meets the requirements of OHV Safety Certification that children age 12-16 must have to legally operate on public land, including ditches, trails and roadways. The certification classes will be at 9 a.m. Friday or 1 p.m.

The cost of the class is $30.

The 3-on-3 basketball tournament will once again be held in the parking lot of Harvest Inn, right off U.S. Highway 281 on the south side of Ellendale. The tournament is for children in grades 3-12. More information can be found on the Dickey County Fair website at www.dickeycountyfair. com.

Friday evening will also feature the free meal at 5:30, followed up by Dueling Pianos in the grandstand. Ttickets for each grandstand show are $10 for adults and $5 for children, or purchase a weekend pass (good for all three grandstand events) for $25 per adult and $12 per child.

A fireworks display after the grandstand events Friday is provided again this year by the technicians at Finnish Line Fireworks.

Games Galore will be providing fun from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds, including inflatable games, some with water. Tickets are $10 for an all-day pass. Pony rides and train rides will also be available at no charge on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday night’s entertainment will be the Bar S Rodeo, which follows the pork chop supper that will be served by the Oakes FFA Alumni. Other events occurring throughout the day on Saturday include: March for Memories Walk/Run, kids pedal pull, flea market/craft show, pet show, antique appraisals, Civic Association bingo and the Magic Show/Messy Mania.

The fair will wrap up on Sunday with the Dickey County Fair Gospel Hour at 10 a.m., followed by the 4-H pancake breakfast at 11 a.m. and the Demo Derby at 1 p.m. At 4 p.m., the commercial exhibits will close, marking the end of the 2012 Dickey County Fair.
