Chancellor says Dickinson State review going well
North Dakota's new university system chancellor says a review of Dickinson State University's enrollment problems is going well.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's new university system chancellor says a review of Dickinson State University's enrollment problems is going well.
The southwestern North Dakota school has been hit recently with an audit that showed it was giving degrees to hundreds of Chinese students who didn't earn them.
A separate audit said the university had haphazard policies for granting partial tuition waivers.
Chancellor Hamid Shirvani (HAH’-mihd shur-VAH’-nee) says an outside agency review has put Dickinson State “on notice” for a year.
He says reviewers have been pleased so far with how Dickinson State has addressed its problems. They'll be checking on the school's progress in a year.
Shirvani says Dickinson State's enrollment has been holding up despite the problems.
North Dakota's Board of Higher Education is meeting in Bismarck.
