GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Police say that a man they believe is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder in North Carolina has been arrested in Grand Forks.

U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Pigg says traffic on Interstate 29 was stopped shortly after 11 a.m. Monday as several law-enforcement vehicles made the arrest.

Pigg tells the Grand Forks Herald that officials are waiting to confirm the man's identity before releasing his name.

The driver of a light blue van crossed into North Dakota at the U.S. border crossing at Pembina, N.D. The newspaper reports that when his name matched one on the national crime data list, law-enforcement officials readied to stop him.

Dozens of vehicles were backed up in the southbound lanes. Details about the North Carolina death weren't immediately available.
