Comedy

“Urinetown,” a musical comedy, is at 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 12. The production is in the Old Church Theater in New Rockford. Tickets are $22 and can be reserved at www.dprca.com or by calling 701-947-2174.

“The Apple Tree,” a musical revue, is July 19-22 and 26-29 with Sunday shows at 2 p.m. and other shows at 8 p.m. at the LaMoure County Memorial Park in Grand Rapids. Ticket costs vary with age. Reservations can be made at lcsmt.com or by calling 701-883-5230.

“Rumpelstiltskin,” a children’s play with the Missoula Children’s Theater, will start its week of rehearsals on July 23. Cost is $20 per child. For more information, call the Arts Center at 251-2496. The play is at 3 and 5:30 p.m. July 28 in the Jamestown High School auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and children are free.

A Dakota Gospel concert is at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the courthouse lawn in Valley City, 230 Fourth St. NW. There is no admission charge.

Jamestown Community Open Mic is at 7 p.m. every fourth Tuesday at Grace Episcopal Church, 405 Second Ave. NE. All performers are welcome.

Around Town

A Front Porch Chat, featuring Niles Mueller talking about historic sites in Jamestown, is at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stutsman County Memorial Museum, 321 Third St. SE. There is no admission charge.

Wood carving with a local wood carving group is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in the Arts Center’s Hansen Studio. There is no charge. Call Andy Kudrna at 320-5075 with questions.

The parks program is from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Wilson Arena and Meidinger and Nickeus parks. The program is for children ages 6-12. There is no admission fee.

The Jamestown Community Picnic is at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Arts Park. There is no admission charge.

Special Events

Nortonville Centennial Celebration is at 1 p.m. Saturday. A parade starts the events at 1 followed by bed races, ladies tea, cantata, hoop shoot, raffle, kickball and a street dance. For more information, contact Myla Buckeye, Nortonville, 685-2203. There is no admission charge.

Libraries/etc.

National Buffalo Museum hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Admission: $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and AAA members, $10 for a family and $1 for children ages 6 to 18.

Stutsman County Memorial Museum hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through September. The museum is located at 321 Third Ave. SE. There is no admission charge.

Alfred Dickey Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. To access the Story Line, call 252-7464.

Stutsman County Library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library is located at 910 Fifth St. SE.

The Arts Center, 115 Second St. SW, Jamestown, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and by appointment Sunday. There is no admission charge.

The Putnam House in Carrington is open for special events and by appointment by calling 701-652-2090. There is no admission charge.

The Barnes County Historical Museum, 315 Central Ave. N, Valley City, is open year round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is a freewill donation.

The Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile Historic Site near Cooperstown is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is $10 for adults, $3 for children, $1 for a child, $30 for family season passes and $15 for an individual season pass. Contact Mark Sundlov at 701-797-3691 for more information.

Midland Continental Railroad Depot Featuring Peggy Lee in Wimbledon, N.D., is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day. The museum is also open by appointment by calling 701-435-2333. Admission is a freewill donation.

The Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center near Pingree is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays and from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The refuge trail system is open daily sunrise to sunset.

Art

Intro to photography, with Troy Gunderson is at 7 p.m. Tuesdays Aug. 7-28 at the Hansen Studio. Cost is $35 for Arts Center members and $45 for others. For more information, call the Arts Center at 251-2496.

Fire in the Hole, a community art installation piece, is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, in the Arts Park. There is no admission charge.

Brian Geffre’s art is on display at Unison Bank for the month of July. Unison features a new artist in its lobby each month.

“Capture the Coteau” exhibit at the Arts Center, 115 Second St. NW, features work from nine regional artists. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and by appointment Sunday. There is no admission charge.
