For ND politicians, State Fair parade is a workout

The North Dakota State Fair parade on Saturday is almost mandatory for anyone who's running for statewide political office.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota State Fair parade on Saturday is almost mandatory for anyone who's running for statewide political office.

And it's a workout for candidates who walk the parade route, especially if the weather's warm.

Democratic U.S. House candidate Pam Gulleson is walking in her first State Fair parade Saturday after watching many of them.

She says parades are fun, but it's hard work. She says a long parade means more than two miles of walking on hot days, and “you don't have to worry about hitting the gym.”
