Jamestown drops two one-run games

Aberdeen notched a pair of last-at bat wins over Jamestown Post 14 Tuesday night.
The Smittys nipped Post 14 5-4 in eight innings in the opener and completed the sweep 4-3 in the nightcap.
Jamestown, which hosts Fargo Post 2 today at 3:30 p.m. in its final games before the state tournament begins next week, dropped to 15-14.

Another big game from Brady Anderson wasn’t quite enough in the opener.
Post 14 rallied late to take the lead, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 4-3 edge. Post 14 could not hold the lead however. Aberdeen tied it in the bottom of the frame and then won it with a single run in the bottom of the eighth off Jamestown reliever Jake Stilwell.
Anderson clubbed a home run, doubled and had three RBIs to lead Jamestown. Landon Weiser added two hits, a run and an RBI.
Tyler Ukestad was effective for 6 1/3 innings on the mound, working around eight hits and three walks.
Joey Gebhardt had the other Jamestown hit and also scored.

Tied 3-all into the bottom of the seventh, the Smittys got to walkoff again, scoring a single run in their final at bat to improve to 20-36 on the summer.
Lucas Lorenz had two hits and two RBIs for Aberdeen. Matthew Swallow and Riley Swenson also added a pair of hits.
Anderson was 2-for-4 with a double for Post 14. Shaun Hogan also had two hits to go along with 6 1/3 solid innings of work on the mound. He was saddled with the loss, but finished with four strikeouts. He walked four and surrendered nine hits.
