Mary Westman of Cattaraugus, N.Y., and Lilia Gudzyuk of Lake Topps, Wash., have signed with the Jamestown College women’s wrestling team.

Westman was a member of the 2012 All-American first team. She placed 10th at the 2011 Cadet World Championships and second at the 2011 Fargo Nationals where she was also named to the all-tournament team. Westman placed first at the 2011 PILA Cadet Body Bar Nationals where she made the Cadet World Team.

She also competed in soccer, softball and track and field in high school.

“I have known Mary for about four years now and she is an exceptional student and athlete who has competed and done well in many national high school events,” said JC women’s wrestling coach Tony DeAnda. “Last summer I also had the pleasure of coaching Mary on the 2011 Cadet World Team that went to Hungary. We are pleased to have Mary become a Jimmie.”

Westman plans to study nursing or exercise science at JC.

Gudyzuk is a two-time Junior Nationals Placer (fifth in 2009 and second in 2010). She placed fourth in Body Bar in 2012 and notched first at the WIAA Mat Classic in 2010.

While attending Auburn Mountainview High School, she also participated in track and cross country.

“Lilia is a state champ, national place winner and a bright student,” said DeAnda. “I was fortunate enough to coach Lilia in my previous coaching position at Northern Michigan University and I look forward to working with her again.”
