Allen named ESPB chairman

Greg Allen was elected as the chairman of the Education Standards and Practices Board at its June Board meeting.

Greg Allen was elected as the chairman of the Education Standards and Practices Board at its June Board meeting. Allen has been on the ESPB since 2007 representing the North Dakota School Boards. Allen is currently on the North Dakota School Board Association Board of Directors representing the Southeast Region. He is the human resource executive of Cavendish Farms Inc.

Allen replaces Don Paulsrud, NDEA representative, as chairman.

Nick Archuleta, Bismarck Public Schools educator, was elected vice chair. Archuleta represents the North Dakota Education Association and has been a member of the board since 2007. He is the Southwest Region Director of NDEA and teaches foreign languages at Century High School in Bismarck.

ESPB, the independent educator licensure board, supervises of the licensure of teachers, setting standards for and approving the teacher education preparation programs for the state’s colleges and universities, develops the professional code of ethics, conduct and professional performance and practices. The board also provides recommendations for in-service education for persons engaged in the profession of education.

The board meets monthly with the next scheduled meeting Aug. 9 in Bismarck.
