Community calendar of events for July 28, 2012

The Community Calendar publishes events, meetings and fundraisers in The Jamestown Sun at no charge. To submit an activity, email it to ksteiner@jamestownsun.com — with “Calendar” in the subject line — or fax to 701-952-8477. Include the type of event, date, time, location (including address) and any admission fee. Provide a contact name and telephone number for verification/questions.

Commercial events (those meant to earn a profit for a business) will not be accepted for this calendar.

Special events

“Welcome Home” parade for Vietnam War veterans, 11 a.m., Steele, N.D. A free meal will follow the parade at noon. All Vietnam veterans and their families are welcome to march or ride in the parade. Korean War veterans are also welcome.

Grillout, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Stutsman Harley-Davidson. Proceeds benefit the James River Humane Society. Brats, hot dogs or hamburgers with chips and a drink can be purchased for $3.50.

Fourth Annual Debbie Gabel Memorial Motorcycle Ride, raffle and street dance, Valley City. Registration for the ride starts at 9 a.m. in Veterans Memorial Park parking lot; ride begins at noon. Cost to participate is $20 per bike, and net proceeds benefit Hospice of the Red River Valley. Street dance starts at 9 p.m. on Main Street.

“Rumpelstiltskin,” a children’s play with the Missoula Children’s Theater, is at 3 and 7 p.m. at the Jamestown High School auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children.
