DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — Officials are celebrating the completion of a $15 million effort to raise the lone road going into Grahams Island State Park on Devils Lake.

The road had long been plagued by wind-driven waves from the flooded lake. The park was closed several times last summer because the road was unsafe for travel. The project to raise a five-mile stretch of the road 6 feet began after Labor Day last fall.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled Friday at the park that sees about 100,000 visitors each year.
