The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp was recently held on the University of Minnesota, Crookston, Minn., campus. Each camper is sponsored by a Rotary club. This year 144 RYLA campers were sponsored by 56 Rotary International clubs from District 5580 and one school district. Seth Knaack was sponsored by the Jamestown Rotary Club.
Most of the students who participated in this year’s RYLA camp will be high school seniors in 2012-2013. Camp RYLA’s mission is to provide outstanding high school students with a variety of educational and recreational activities. These activities provide numerous opportunities for leadership and team building, and they are designed to expand, improve and refine the participants’ leadership skills.
Campers are hosted by the Crookston Rotary Club, Rotary International District 5580 and UMC. The students stay in the residence halls on campus during this program.
