BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Minot man with convictions for terrorizing, aggravated assault and burglary has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on a weapons charge.
Authorities say officers with the Ward County Sheriff's Office found 30-year-old Arthur Smith asleep in a vehicle parked on U.S. Highway 2 just east of Minot last December, and that Smith had a handgun in the front seat. He pleaded guilty in April to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says Smith will be on supervised release for two years following his prison term.
