Utah man pleads not guilty in Wyo. bank robberies
A Utah man suspected of robbing banks in his home state as well as Wyoming, Oklahoma and Montana has pleaded not guilty to federal charges in Wyoming.
POWELL, Wyo. (AP) — A Utah man suspected of robbing banks in his home state as well as Wyoming, Oklahoma and Montana has pleaded not guilty to federal charges in Wyoming.
Joshua Beckstead entered his plea last week on charges that he robbed banks in Cody and Cheyenne in June. The 32-year-old is also charged with an attempted robbery in Cody.
The Powell Tribune reports that Beckstead will go on trial in Casper on Oct. 1. He could face 60 years if convicted.
Beckstead hasn't been charged with bank robberies in any of the other states but he's wanted in Utah for allegedly passing bad checks.
He was released from the Ogden, Utah, jail on May 8 to go to a dentist's appointment but never returned. He was arrested July 4 in Bismarck, N.D.
