Class B state tourney rained out

Due to inclement weather, only one of the three scheduled games of Day 3 of the American Legion State Class B baseball tournament in LaMoure were completed on Friday.

Due to inclement weather, only one of the three scheduled games of Day 3 of the American Legion State Class B baseball tournament in LaMoure were completed on Friday.

Washburn Post 12 defeated Lisbon Post 7 by the final of 6-2 in loser-out play. LaMoure was scheduled to face Velva in the second loser-out game on Friday, while Wahpeton was slated to face Grafton in a battle of tournament unbeatens.

Those two games will be played today starting with LaMoure vs. Velva at noon, with Grafton taking on Wahpeton 30 minutes after. The day will then conclude with semifinal games between Washburn and either Wahpeton or Grafton, followed by either Velva or LaMoure facing either Wahpeton or Grafton.

The championship game is slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Washburn’s Evan Eberle sailed through 6 2/3 innings on the mound against Lisbon on Friday, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three, to help Washburn stay alive 6-2.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings, when Washburn scored two in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Lisbon committed five errors in the game.

Lisbon’s Nathan Mangin went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored, while Jace Berg doubled and drove in a pair of runs for Post 7.

Washburn’s Mike Hausauer and Chance Kurle each went 2-for-4 at the dish. Hausauer smacked a double in the game.

Tyler Mittleider shouldered the loss for Lisbon, tossing six innings and allowing three earned runs on eight hits while striking out three.
