Nebraska leads states in increased cropland value

The value of an acre of Nebraska cropland rose more than any other state over the last year.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The value of an acre of Nebraska cropland rose more than any other state over the last year.

The Department of Agriculture said cropland in Nebraska climbed nearly 36 percent to $4,480 an acre. Second was North Dakota, which was up nearly 30 percent followed by Kansas, up 25 percent.

Farm real estate, which includes all land and buildings on farms, was up 33.5 percent in Nebraska, again the highest increase.

Iowa cropland rose nearly 24 percent to $7,300 an acre and farm real estate rose nearly 23 percent to $7,000 an acre.

Nationally, cropland was up 14.5 percent from a year ago to $3,550 an acre and farmland real estate rose nearly 11 percent.
