Justin Wieck is the new men’s basketball coach at Jamestown College.

Despite being just 28-years-old, Wieck brings an impressive résumé to the Jimmies.

He’s spent the past two years as an assistant coach at Northern State in Aberdeen. Prior to that he was on staff at the University of Iowa as the video coordinator for four seasons under head coaches Steve Alford and Todd Lickliter.

Wieck, pronounced Wick, played two seasons for Division I Iowa of the Big Ten, earning a scholarship as a senior after walking on his junior season following two years at Kirkland Community College.

“I feel prepared for this opportunity and it is a great opportunity at a program with an established record of success,” Wieck said. “I’m really excited to get started. There are a lot of really good things in place here and we just want to build on them.”

Wieck replaces Matt Murken, who was hired as the men’s basketball coach at Minot State on July 24. Murken went 46-16 in two seasons at JC.
