Head-on crash kills motorcyclist Monday

A Valley City, N.D., man died after a head-on motorcycle crash Monday afternoon, according to Chad Kaiser, Stutsman County sheriff.

The accident happened around 4:20 p.m. about 2 miles north of Spiritwood Lake on N.D. Highway 62.

“Right now it looks like the motorcycle was on the crest of a hill and it looks like the motorcycle was in the wrong lane,” Kaiser said.

The motorcycle, which was headed south, and a pickup, which was headed north, collided head-on.

The motorcycle driver was killed. He was not wearing a helmet. No other injuries were reported.

The motorcycle was totaled and Kaiser estimated the damage to the pickup at $6,000.
