Thirty-seven Jewels of the Prairie attended Mirt Brown’s Garden Party with a “Thanksgiving In June” theme. A noon dinner was served with roast turkey and all the trimmings including homemade cut-out turkey sugar cookies. Kay Meszaros served beverages; Dorothy Chouinard and Carol Hayes took reservations. Seven tables were set in an explosion of orange, brown, turkeys, cornucopias, pumpkins and corn shocks. Jill and Narrah Newark, daughter and granddaughter of Mirt Brown, came from Las Vegas to assist with the arrangements. New Jewel member Sharon Snyder, who recently moved to the Woodworth area from Michigan, was in attendance and guest Martha Klingingberg was welcomed.

The Jewels colored turkeys, sang songs and everyone was sent home with a loaf of pumpkin bread and many memories from Brown’s 10th Garden Party for the Jewels.
