The Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded to a controlled burn fire 1 1/2 miles north of the Eldridge, N.D., exit off of Interstate 94 Tuesday, according to Brian Paulson, assistant chief with the JRFD.
Four fire trucks and eight firefighters were on the scene following a 1:14 p.m. call to dispatch at the Law Enforcement Center from a passerby who noticed a utility pole had caught fire during the controlled burn.
Paulson said they were able to extinguish the fire on the utility pole with very little damage done and said there was nothing further to investigate.
