The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office released the name of a man killed in a motorcycle accident Monday near Spiritwood Lake.

Jackson Schnaidt, 37, Valley City, was killed in the crash, according to a press release from Chad Kaiser, Stutsman County sheriff.

The release said Schnaidt was southbound on Stutsman County Highway 62 when his 2008 Yamaha motorcycle crossed into the oncoming lane at the crest of a hill. There, it collided with a 1995 Ford pickup driven by Alvin Alderman, 63, Wimbledon.

Alderman was not injured in the accident but was cited for driving under suspension. The report indicates he had consumed alcohol prior to the accident but was under the legal limit. He was wearing a seat belt.

Schnaidt was not wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is considered a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation by the Stutsman County Sherriff’s Office and the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
