YWCA asks ND US Senate candidate Berg to stop ad
The board of the YWCA in Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., wants North Dakota U.S. Senate candidate Rick Berg to stop showing a television ad that features his role in building a new shelter for victims of domestic violence.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The board of the YWCA in Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., wants North Dakota U.S. Senate candidate Rick Berg to stop showing a television ad that features his role in building a new shelter for victims of domestic violence.
In a statement Friday, the group's board says the ad is being treated as a YWCA endorsement of the Republican's Senate campaign. The statement says the YWCA can't get involved in politics.
The ad features a former chairwoman of the YWCA board, talking about Berg's role in establishing a new YWCA shelter for victims of domestic violence.
The woman says Berg was approached for a donation, and he was so interested that he ended up managing the project.
Berg's campaign didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
