Letter to the editor: Smoking ban would benefit North Dakota businesses

I am a lifelong conservative Republican and insurance business owner here in Illinois and I can tell everyone in North Dakota that our five-year-old Comprehensive Smoke Free Illinois law has been good for both health and business.

I am a lifelong conservative Republican and insurance business owner here in Illinois and I can tell everyone in North Dakota that our five-year-old Comprehensive Smoke Free Illinois law has been good for both health and business. The statewide smoking ban is strongly supported by both political parties and recent polls show that 84 percent of Illinois residents, including a majority of smokers, now support it. The time has arrived for North Dakota to enact a statewide smoking ban and join the 37 other states that have already done so.
