DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — The Hettinger County Sheriff's Office is down a vehicle after a deputy collided with a moose.
The deputy was not hurt in the crash last week on state Highway 21 but the moose was killed and the squad car was totaled.
Moose sightings in southwestern North Dakota are unusual. Sheriff Sarah Warner tells The Dickinson Press that authorities have had reports of three moose in the area.
