Kulm Windfest is this weekend

Windfest returns to Kulm, N.D., this weekend with several events to celebrate the town and the wind turbines around it. Events start with a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Kulm Community Center. It will be sponsored by Titan Machinery.

Events start with a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Kulm Community Center. It will be sponsored by Titan Machinery.

There will be a Cajun supper at 5 p.m. at Kulm Park and a steak supper at 6 p.m. at the country club. The volleyball tournament starts at 5 p.m. at Kulm Park.

A street dance will start at 9 p.m. Friday featuring Music Maker.

Saturday’s events start with a 5K walk/run, which begins at 7 a.m. at Kulm Elementary School. A scavenger hunt will last from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., starting at the community center. And a rummage sale will run during the same time at homes around Kulm.

Also, airplane rides will be offered at Kulm Airport starting at 8 a.m.

The children’s parade will be at 9:30 a.m. and the main parade will start at 10 a.m. Both will roll down Main Street.

The antique tractor show will last from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. north of Heartland State Bank and inflatable games will operate from 1 to 5 p.m. west of Kulm High School.

The Kulm City Band will perform at noon on Main Street and Randy Schlecht will perform music at 4 p.m. at the community center. There will be performances of the annual melodrama at 1 and 6 p.m. at the high school.

The annual demolition derby will also start at 1 p.m. by the railroad tracks at the north end of town.

At 8 p.m., the pie auction and raffle drawing will start on Main Street to be followed at 9 p.m. by the street dance featuring Backstage Pass, which will last until 1 a.m. There will also be mechanical-bull riding from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Main Street.
