Letter to the editor: America had prosperity before Obama got power

President Barack Obama has been asking lately in his campaign speeches “Do you want to go back to what we had? Or do you want to look to the future with “shared prosperity?” We here in North Dakota do have some prosperity, but what about the rest of the country? More than 8 percent unemployment, businesses going broke every day, people still under water on their homes, and the national debt skyrocketing. Does that sound like prosperity to you? It sounds more like shared misery to me, which, by the way, is the best definition of socialism.

Obama does not want prosperity for America, he wants socialism. Most of the decline in America is by Obama design. He thinks we have been too greedy and use too many of the world’s resources for ourselves, hello Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Is that what you think? I would gladly go back to what we had prior to 2006 when the Democrats took over Congress. That was surely a lot closer to prosperity than we have today. Go back and check the unemployment figures and growth rates for yourself if you don’t believe me!

I certainly do not agree with all that the Republicans have done over the years, but if they had stuck to their core principles and not tried to be more like Democrats, John McCain comes to mind, I think we all would be much better off. Just compare North Dakota, run almost exclusively by Republicans, to the U.S. government, where Democrats have been in control since 2006. If you do an honest comparison it should make checking the right boxes in November easy!
