Jimmie women open season Sunday

The Jamestown College women’s soccer team will begin its season on Sunday with a game at Minnesota-Crookston.

It was originally supposed to be a scrimmage for the Jimmies and new coach Nick Becker, but a couple of games have been dropped from initial slate, so Sunday’s match will now count.

Both Jamestown College soccer teams hosted Bismarck State College in scrimmages on Thursday night. Stats were not kept for either game, per NAIA rules.

The Jimmie men have one more scrimmage — today in Bismarck against the University of Mary — before they kick it off for real on Wednesday in Bellevue, Neb., against the Bruins.

The Jimmie men are coming off a school-record 11-win season in which they advanced to postseason play for the first time. The JC women finished last season 5-11-1.
